Dominican government Ok's Maple exploration
The Dominican Republic government has approved the exploration of the Maple property which was acquired in September of last year, it has been reported.
Consisting of some 253 square kilometres, the property is located just outside the La Vega region in the central part of the country.
In news that may interest those with a Caribbean off plan property investment, it was acquired on the basis that it has high potential for gold and other precious and base metals, reports Dominican Today.
Furthermore, Pueblo Viejo the second largest known deposit of gold after Yanococha in Peru lies within 50 kilometres of the Maple property.
Between 1975 and 1999, the Pueblo mine produced some 5.4 million ounces of gold and 24.7 million ounces of silver.
Investors keeping an eye on the country's economic potential may also be interested to learn that the east border of the property is located less than 15 kilometres of the Falcondo Nickel mine.
