Brazilian foreign minister: It is likely Venezuela will join Mercosur

It is likely that the Brazilian Congress will approve admission of Venezuela to the Market of the South (Mercosur), it has been claimed.

According to Brazil's foreign minister Celso Amorim, it is "possible and desirable" that the nation will be admitted to the regional trade agreement between Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay, reports online news provider El Universal.

The resource states that Amorin told Argentinean newspaper Clarín that admission is difficult at the moment but a positive decision may be made by November.

According to the BBC, Mercosur aims to bring about the free movement of good capital and services within its member states.
